Ratfish Liver Oil has been widely used for centuries as a complementary medicine in Scandinavian countries, where it is often described as the ‘Gold of the ocean’. Rosita Ratfish Liver Oil™ contains a wide spectrum of naturally occurring fatty acids, fat soluble nutrients and antioxidants. It is an exceptionally rich source of naturally occurring biologically active alkylglycerol lipids. No heat or mechanical devices are used to extract this oil, only nature’s ancient principles. Rosita RLO has a mild, buttery taste – less fishy than cod liver oil. The oil will get absorbed easily with the taste dissipating quickly.
Rosita Ratfish Liver Oil contains more than 33% Alkylglycerol content which is a natural antioxidant. It contains omega-3, omega-4, omega-6, omega-7, omega-9 and omega-11 fatty acids in their naturally occurring forms as well as a naturally low ratio of vitamin A to vitamin D. It also contains natural antioxidants such as squalene that protect cells against free radical damage.
Rosita RLO liquid is a full spectrum fish liver oil. Unlike refined fish oils, RLO contains many different fatty acids that thicken and separate when refrigerated. When chilled, the stearins, waxes and triglycerides may appear as particles, as a film, cloudy, or thick like gelatin. This is normal for a fresh, wild and raw fish liver oil. You may take the oils out of the fridge 3-5 minutes before use to allow them to evenly mix and to permit the efficient use of the dropper. This is particularly important for the 10ml dropper.

How is the oil extracted from the ratfish liver?
We prefer to keep our fish oils as natural and pure as possible. We hold ourselves to a high standard to ensure that our customers get premium extra-virgin oils. So, we do not use any heat, pressure or metal containers or treatment when collecting and processing our oils. This helps to keep the delicate oils pure. Once the livers have been carefully removed from the fish, each liver is inspected for quality. The best livers are then stored within a dark, oxygen-free environment. Within temperatures slightly higher than the ocean, the livers naturally release the oil. We meticulously regulate this step to ensure that the oil is pure and retains its nutrients. Any contaminants are removed using a patented method with the help of natural materials. Once again, no chemicals or heat are used in this removal process. Finally, the oil is stored within a cold, dark environment without oxygen. This keeps the oil fresh and it can be tested for purity prior to being bottled
Not only are our fish oils pure and natural, we also get them independently tested by third-party laboratories. This helps to ensure that our oils are free from contaminants such as mercury, lead, cadmium, dioxins and PCBs. Our fish oils are therefore safe to use.
Can I take RFLO while breastfeeding?
RFLO is safe to take while breastfeeding. Breastfeeding mums may consume RFLO directly (2 – 5 drops daily with food) and allow the rich nutrients to pass through the milk to baby. However, you should always check with a healthcare practitioner first. Infants older than 3 months can have 1 – 2 drops of RFLO daily or as needed mixed with breastmilk, baby formula, or food. Again, it’s important to check with a healthcare practitioner first.

Is rosita RFLO from a sustainable source?
Rosita Real Foods’ fishermen utilise authentic, traditional methods to catch the ratfish. Small fishing boats are used so that less damage is done to the environment than larger, commercial fishing vessels. The fish are caught using the long-line fishing technique, which is beneficial as it limits bycatch, and is sea-bird friendly, minimising the impact on our ecosystem. Additionally, long-line fishing allows us to release any juvenile fish that are caught. Along with our sustainable techniques, we adhere to fishing quotas set by the Norwegian government. These quotas help to ensure that overfishing does not occur, and the survival of the fish is safeguarded.
What are the benefits of RFLO?
Studies have suggested that RFLO has anti-inflammatory properties and can support the immune system. The oil is naturally rich with alkylglycerols with a concentration of up to 33%. Alkylglycerols are fatty nutrients that are antioxidants and known for supporting the immune system. RFLO also contains essential fatty acids, vitamins and natural antioxidants. It contains omega-3, -4, -6, -7, -9 and -11 fatty acids, and vitamin A, D and E. The natural antioxidants, such as squalene, can help to protect your body against free radicals on a cellular level. In comparison with synthetic versions of these nutrients, natural forms are thought to be more bioavailable and easier for the body to absorb and utilise.
Is Rosita ratfish oil the same as skate liver oil?
There is a mix of misinformation online based around skate liver oil and ratfish liver oil. It is a misconception that skate liver oil is the same as Rosita Ratfish Liver Oil. Ratfish and skate fish are from two different biological families, meaning that their liver oil nutrient profiles are rather different. Some sellers may attempt to sell skate liver oil and claim that it is the same as Rosita RFLO, however this is not true. In conclusion, the two liver oils are not the same, despite certain claims online.
How much Rosita RFLO liquid should I take?
How do I take care of my RFLO?
The key thing to preserve your oil is getting it cold BEFORE opening it and using it within a few months after opening. The oil may become thick and cloudy when cold, gently shake the bottle before use.
Care should be taken to keep the dropper untouched and free from pollutants as this could cause rancidity (e.g. mouth/saliva/skin contact may cause degradation of the antioxidants).
Rosita Real Foods EVRFO a pure and natural healthy fish oil which provides a great range of beneficial fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins. If you are fortunate enough to be able to breastfeed, then one way to feed the baby the oil is taking it yourself. The beneficial fats and fat soluble vitamins should also pass to the baby though the breast milk. Once they are a little older please consider the Extra Virgin Ratfish Liver Oil directly for them. We recommend you consult with your physician before taking this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and do not exceed more than 5 drops daily.
